The town has the highest church tower in the state of Salzburg and tradition and customs are an integral part of village life epitomized by the annual harvest festival. Maria Alm am Steinernen Meer is a 75km drive from Salzburg, Austria and a 170km drive from Munich, Germany. An excursion to Innsbruck would be a 140 km drive from Maria Alm.

Winter

The Hochkönig region is the best place for your winter vacation: perfect snow conditions, magnificent ski slopes, countless possibilities, impressive panoramas, the best hut culture, and first-class service. Awaiting you in the Maria Alm, Dienten, and Mühlbach ski areas are a total of 32 lifts, over 60 prepared slopes, and 120 km of excellent ski runs. Experience one of the most beautiful ski tours in the Alps on the Königstour with 32 km of continuous slopes ascending to 6,700 vertical meters. The heart of winter beats here in our region. The charming slopes of Maria Alm are an ideal place for ski instruction. The easy practise slopes are within walking distance from your apartment, so you don’t need any other means of transport during your stay. You can reach the ski resort of Hochkönig by car or ski bus from the village center within a few minutes. From the winter season 2018/2019 onwards, Maria Alm ski resort will be connected to the ski resort of Hochkönig, in the immediate proximity of Apartment Georg, thus making a trip there wonderfully convenient .

Maria Alm is located in the heartland of ski resort culture – Zell am See or Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang are within 30 minutes driving distance. The glacier of Kaprun also offers skiing pleasure in the winter off-season. In the wellness oasis of Kaprun Tauern Spa, you can chill out in splendid surroundings.

Summer

In summer, Maria Alm is a veritable El Dorado for hiking, biking and climbing fans. Hundreds kilometres of marked hiking trails, with all levels of difficulty abound.
